HOUSTON (September 10, 207) – Yellow Cab is now offering full service to and from Pearland. Earlier this month, the Pearland City Council unanimously decided to allow taxicab companies to pick up passengers within the city limits, so long as the taxi passes the city of Houston’s permitting process and has a permit issued by the Pearland police department.
“Yellow Cab is excited about the opportunity to fully serve Pearland," says Robert Rugg, president of Yellow Cab. "Pearland is the fastest growing city south of Houston. Residents and visitors will now have 24-hour access to high-quality ground transportation.” All 1,200+ vehicles in the Yellow Cab fleet will be permitted to serve Pearland.
City Council Woman Helen Beckman commented, “I'm glad to see that they (Yellow Cab) have an interest in working in Pearland. I'm looking at it from the overall convenience. The citizens of Pearland need to be able to grab a cab if they need one.”
City Manager Bill Eisen added, “This is one more service that should be available to the citizens of the community. It's something that's good for people that are here today, and who may need to get to and from an airport or some other place from the house.”
Yellow Cab uses a GPS computer dispatch system that matches the closest available taxi to each service call, resulting in a prompt response time of 15 minutes or less. Yellow Cab vehicles are late-model sedans and minivans, equipped with digital surveillance cameras. Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available upon request.
