The school and taxi companies have partnered to teach special education students certain “life skills” by teaching them how to travel via taxis. Fourteen students, ages 12 15, will be part if the field trip to learn “life skills.” The students are each given a Taxis Card with credit on it, by which they use to pay their fare.
Seven taxis, one of which will have wheelchair access, will pick the students up at Westbriar Middle School. The first stop for the students will be The FunPlex on Bellaire. After spending time there they will go to Fry's on Westheimer for lunch and then back to the school. Cabs will be at the locations to pick the students up.
Yellow Cab serves the Houston area travelers by providing safe transportation for all people and occasions. A representative from Yellow Cab will be available to discuss the importance of this skill for these students as well as the benefits of using taxi services to transport themselves to school, work and appointments.
