HOUSTON (July 14, 2005) – Yellow Cab Houston, Houston’s only computer-dispatched taxi fleet, recently presented a $25,000 donation to Houston Chief of Police Harold Hurtt on behalf of the Houston Police Foundation (HPF). The presentation took place on July 12, 2005 at Houston Police Department Headquarters, 1200 Travis St.

            “We are proud to be a founding member of the Houston Police Foundation and to help support its important work in our community,” said Raymond Turner, president of Texas Taxi, the parent company of Yellow Cab Houston. 

            Along with Turner, Robert Rugg, president of Yellow Cab Houston, and Roman Martinez, president of Taxis Fiesta, also participated in the check presentation on behalf of Yellow Cab.

            Also participating in the check presentation ceremony was HPF Chairman, Don Sanders, who is a founding member of the organization, which receives and administers contributions for the benefit of the people of the city of Houston. In addition, the foundation funds, assists and undertakes programs to strengthen the Houston Police Department and promote public safety.  Modeled after other successful police foundations that attest to a successful partnership between the private sector and the police department, the Houston Police Foundation is an independent nonprofit corporation formed by local business leaders solely to support Houston Police Department projects.
