Houston, TX (December 13, 2006) -– When Yellow Cab’s Mike Spears pulled up to Dobie High School in Yellow Cab’s promotional Hummer, the students in the SUCCESS Social Studies class knew that their class time would be a little more exciting than usual.
Yellow Cab was invited to make a presentation to the students as part of a hands-on transportation unit. The students learned about fares and how to save money with shared-ride services. “These students will be in the workforce soon,” said Mr Spears. “Knowing how to order taxi service will help them with their newfound independence.” Mr. Spears gave the students helpful advice, such as taking note of the cab number in case they need to track down an item let behind in the cab.
As part of the presentation, the students practiced riding around Dobie in a taxi. They especially enjoyed checking out all the features of the Hummer before Mr. Spears drove it away. “I enjoy spreading the word about the services available through Yellow Cab at public events,” said Mr. Spears, who works in the Yellow Cab marketing department. “But empowering kids with valuable and practical life skills is the best part of my job!”
