Houston, TX (Nov. 20, 2007) About fifty independent contractor drivers at Yellow Cab, Houston’s largest taxicab fleet, will donate their time on Thanksgiving mornings to transport more than 125 homeless women and children from Star of Hope’s Transitional Living Center to the downtown Hard Rock Café where the families will enjoy a free Thanksgiving meal.
“These Yellow Cab drivers are tremendously important to The Star of Hope Mission, to our clients, and to the community at-large,” said Mike Spears, Marketing Director of Yellow Cab. “The volunteer drivers really make a difference and they have the opportunity to experience the joy and satisfaction of providing a valuable service in their own community on Thanksgiving Day.”
Marilyn Fountain, Star of Hope’s Community Relations Manager, concurs. “We usually have everyone ride the bus to and from the event. This is a first for us. Yellow Cab wanted to do something nice for our clients on this special day and they came up with a great thought. It’s a warm holiday treat for everybody,” she said.
